something beautiful and full of monsters
how many scars do you let people see?
This collection revolves around the concept of scars- those that are visible, and those that are internal- and the idea that perhaps we are better for having them than we would be without them. I created this series around a loved one’s story of losing the color in his life, losing trust in his mind, and losing himself. He told it with shame, vulnerability, and self-loathing. I wanted to change the way he saw himself and what he experienced, to rewrite the tragedy he had penned and turn it into a tale of redemption. I wanted his scars to go from something to be ashamed of to something to be respected for. I wanted to show him what I saw: something beautiful and full of monsters.
